What is an Ecoblitz?
Similar to a Bioblitz, an EcoBlitz is a community-science effort to make as many biodiversity observations as possible within a designated location and time period.
The annual EcoBlitz event runs for two weeks each spring to observe biodiversity, so that, over time, we will have records of biodiversity on campus and how it is changing. The highlight of the EcoBlitz is our kick-off event with tables, activities, and tours from student groups, research labs, and community organizations. We have friendly competitions for most and best observations, with prizes!
The EcoBlitz is a great way for the public to engage in scientific and connect to the environment. The EcoBlitz brings together naturalists, scientists, students, and members of the public with a passion for nature to enjoy the great outdoors and have fun!
The community can participate in the annual event, or in our larger biodiveristy initiative, where they can log observations year round with observations organized under our Umbrella project.
